- Summary
- COI Synopis - In this programme, we look at what the sea can offer us in terms of energy, food and minerals. It also examines its awesome power and offers some solutions for safety at sea. Red - too fast, green - too slow, white - just right! Watching for these colours coming from a computer-controlled lantern fixed to a prominent point onshore, is all a pilot now has to do to guide his vessel into port. Once the computer knows the ship’s approach speed, it swings the tri-coloured lantern in an arc towards the jetty. As long as the pilot can see the white beam, he knows the ship will dock safely.
