COI synopsis: Did you know that plants utter cries of distress? Long before lack of water makes vegetation wilt scientists, using ultra sensitive sound heads, have listened into ‘cavitation’ - the symptoms of thirst. Electronic early warning of this kind may play a big part in farming of the future.
