    Founded in 1947 as the University Film Producers Council, the UFVA has developed into an organisation of almost 800 professionals and institutions, chiefly in America and Canada, involved in the production and study of film, video, and newer media arts. The UFVA is an international organisation "where film and video production meets the history, theory and criticism of the media". UFVA members include image-makers and artists, teachers and students, archivists and distributors, college departments, libraries, and manufacturers. Its site has news items, details of publications and other activities of the UVFA.

    Spoken Word Services is based in the Saltire Centre at Glasgow Caledonian University. Its core aim is to enhance and transform educational experience through the integration of digitised spoken word audio and video into learning and teaching. It is attempting to make a substantial portion of the BBC’s radio archive accessible online for educational use. Other audio content includes audio recordings from the Glasgow Centre for Population Health events and Glasgow Caledonian University Archives Witness Seminars. Users need to sign up for an Educational Users Account, and then can download content or link to a stable web address. There is a simple and an advanced search option, but no browsing facility. As the agreement with the BBC expries in February 2014, the web site will no longer be available after that date.

    The Pentagon Channel broadcasts military news and information for the 2.6 million members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Its broadcasts include Department of Defense news briefings, military news, interviews with top Defense officials, and short stories about the work of the American military . The Channel is broadcast 24/7 through stateside satellite and cable providers, and webcast through this site. The site provides programme summaries, channel offering for different territories, and a live video stream with such features as Around the Services, Briefings, Focus on the Force, The American Veteran, and Tour of Duty.

    Launched in 2006, the Open University's OpenLearn website has grown to provide over 8000 study hours of video, audio and print materials from OU courses. It is not necessary to be a student of the OU to use the resources. OpenLearn does not of itself grant degrees or award credits, but there is a link for those who wish to consider formal Study at the OU. LearningSpace units are divided up into the subject areas of Body & Mind, Education, History & the Arts, Languages, Money & Management, Nature & Environment, Science, Maths & Technology, and Society. There is substantial video content included (Flash).
    In 2010 OpenLearn merged with open2.net, the site that supported OU-produced BBC general programming. So now OpenLearn also gives access to topical and interactive content, from expert blogs, to videos and games that enrich these programmes.

    tve is an independent, non-profit organisation, which has been making, co-producing, or partnering in the production of films since the 1980s. Their aim is to produce films and enable others to produce films, about the environment, development, human rights and health. A significant archive can now be accessed via their website or their You Tube Channel. Films are organised under 23 categories including: climate change; energy and fuel; food fishing and farming; football; forests and trees; health; human rights; migration; oceans, rivers and seas; people and communities; protest; reusing and recycling; science and technology; trade and economics; transport; urban and rural; war and conflict; and women and equality.
    tve is also responsible for the tvebiomovies initiative- a film competition for young people around the world.

    American online video store of basic design and limited catalogue information, covering feature films and documentary material such as National Geographic, Nova, science, nature and history, also opera, classical music, dance and literature. The company, also using the name ‘Viewfinders’, specialises in supplying material in video rather than DVD format and the site contains a regularly updated list of the new factory wrapped VHS titles they have remaining in stock. They claim to be able to supply virtually any video/DVD that is in current distribution in the US. In addition the site offers a ‘Radio Program’ of 3-minute audio descriptions of recommended films.
    This site is no longer active, but the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine offers a capture of the website as it appeared on 24/08/2005. This does not include access to the moving images.
