An independent artists’ group whose aim is to promote radio as a site for creative experimentation. The group organises workshops, sound installations and live events, and commissions and broadcasts new sound works by international artists. The site has an audio gallery of commissioned works which have been aired on 13 partner stations including ABC (AUS), RTE, Resonance FM, Soundart Radio, Phonic FM, Radio Reverb, Radiophrenia, BCB, Wave Farm (US), Radio Papesse and Borealis Festival. Each commission has its own page with an in-depth description of the work, a biography of the artist, and links to excerpts of the work and in some cases interviews.

A public learning laboratory, The Exploratorium, is devoted to just that: exploring the world through science, art and human perception. Their mission is ‘to create inquiry-based experiences that transform learning worldwide’ and perhaps more importantly their vision is ‘a world where people think for themselves and can confidently ask questions, question answers, and understand the world around them’. The museum makes available a vast range of, video programmes, organised by subjects, including: Arts (532 videos), Astronomy and Space (220), Biology (331), Chemistry (97), History (35), Mathematics (19), Nature of Science (13), Perception (55), Physics (215), and Social Science (575). There is also a Websites section with over 35, 000 pages of content, which can be explored by subject too.

Founded in 1919, the New School university in New York City is a leading academic centre for the development of artists and designers. Amongst its notable alumni there are world-renowned names in the fields of literature, visual arts and performing arts including James Baldwin, Jack Kerouac, Mario Puzo, Marlon Brando, Tony Curtis, Walter Matthau, Paul Dano, Ai Weiwei, Tom Ford and Marc Jacobs. Via their you tube channel the New School offers the Public Programs Express, which is an ongoing series of interviews with prominent speakers such as Thomas Piketty, bell hooks, Naomi Klein, Ai Weiwei, Noam Chomsky, Yanis Varoufakis and Christina Greer. The interviews –so far some 61- are displayed as two-to-five minutes clips or highlights, but can be accessed in their entirety by clicking on the ‘show more’ and then the ‘bonus material’ links.

This is an USA-based podcast entertainment network devoted to culture, movies and music. Podcasts housed on the site include: Pure Cinema (with discussions of new and old films), Vinyl Emergency (about the people who create and collect vinyl records), Drinking at the Movies (conversation about films by two old friends), Supporting Characters (interviews with authors, film critics and bloggers), Movie Madness (reviews, interviews, film festivals coverage and box office information), Fresh Perspective (on a film related theme), and Voices & Visions (interviews with creative people). Some shows are sporadic, some are bi-weekly, but the site archives all the content, which can be streamed or downloaded.

The Lannan Foundation is an American charitable organisation dedicated to supporting and funding the arts, especially contemporary visual art, literature, indigenous communities, and cultural freedom. This resource is an extensive, freely available, collection of clips, essays, biographies and other writings about British-based artists’ work in film and video. Users can browse by artist, work title, or via themes such as abstraction and installation. The site also features a historical timeline of key events in artists’ film and video from 1900- present day, and virtual tours created by leading curators and writers (such as novelist Ali Smith on Margaret Tait). The site has not been updated since 2009 so some of the links may be out of date but the core content of the resource remains valuable and relevant.

Countries covered are the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia and Romania. The site features a selection of videos (mainly short films) as well as documentaries, lectures and recordings of events about the avant garde and experimental film .
