Shell synopsis: The third feature is entitled ‘Soapbox Derby’ and reports on the area finals of the boy scouts soapbox derby. The boy scouts need to build their vehicle for less than £5, and all cars competing are classified to a rating according to weight. They should be pedal driven with a steering column ending on the front wheels and be equipped with breaks, otherwise construction and design is without restriction. At the finals in Brighton a record crowd of 90,000 line the course for the national soapbox derby to watch the racing drivers, mechanics and pit attendants of tomorrow. - Keywords
