- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Keep the Wheels Turning. DESCRIPTION: The main reason for Mr Marples’ visit to the new M6 motorway was to see a road laying train which can lay a mile and a half of motorway a week. This train was specially imported from the States at a cost of nearly four hundred thousand. New roadways - old railways. Instead of letting all those miles of track turn to rust, why not adapt road vehicles to use the rails? A simple attachment fitted to an otherwise standard vehicle. It could be useful on an existing railway system, getting repair and maintenance teams quickly to their jobs - fitted to ambulances it could save vital time, attending to the injured in a train crash. Ten countries, in Britain were represented in the European Go-Kart Championship near Munich. 1st and 2nd place went to Italy and West Germany third. SHOTLIST: Key scene. GV road laying train.
