Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: King Haakon’s Funeral. DESCRIPTION: In Norway - the funeral procession of King Haakon, who served his people with devotion throughout a reign of fifty-two years. King Haakon’s successor, King Olav 6th followed the biers. Then the Kings of Sweden, Denmark, Greece and Belgium. Representing the Queen, the Duke of Gloucester with Royal mourners from Ethiopia and Luxembourg. SHOTLIST: GV of troops marching, mourners lining streets looking-on. Hearse driven slowly along street, followed by King Olav. Crown Prince Harald, King Frederik of Denmark, King of Greece, King of Sweden, King Baudouin of Belgium, the Duke of Gloucester. Coffin carried into the Cathedral by officers of the Norwegian Army and Navy. After the ceremony the procession makes its way to Akershus Castle, approaching the gate guns were fired on the ramparts, & flags lowered in salute.
