Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Queen & Duke Tour Flooded Areas. DESCRIPTION: The Duke of Edinburgh has again been making flying visits to the flooded areas on England’s East Coast. Her Majesty went to Purfleet and Tilbury during her tour of places in Essex and Kent. Mablethorpe was one of the places visited by the Duke who toured the district, he also spent some time at near-by Sutton. Further South, the Duke had a close look at damage done, and work in progress, on the Suffolk Coast. Much needed sandbags were flown in to Waterbeach, Cambridgeshire from Denmark. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Viking plane at London Airport. Duke boards plane. Plane takes off. Purfleet. People drying out furniture in street. CU white mark on walls of houses showing the water line. Gravesend. Queen leaving house, talking to people. Mablethorpe. Duke inspecting sea wall breaches. Sand-bagging etc. Being assisted with his boots. Duke in small dinghy touring flooded areas. Scandinavian aircraft landing with sand bags - lorries drive away. Martelsham Heath - Various shots of sea breaking over sea wall and esplanade.
