- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Record Racing Prize. DESCRIPTION: The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot was worth over £25,000 to the winner. Mr Churchill was there to watch his horse Colonist II. The race was won by Supreme Court by three quarters of a length from Zucchero. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. CU Cap & whip (jockeys). GV Ascot, with clock tower in background. Elevated MS of horses. Various GVs of crowds at race-course. Arrival, walks between crowds, of Queen & Princess Elizabeth. SCU Colonist No 2. Preceded by arrival of Mr Churchill, raising hat & waving aside cameramen. Tantieme kicking during parade. GV start, pan of race, various pans including out in the open country. Rounding bend. Colonist takes lead, then up comes Zucchero, & Supreme Court, Supreme Court going on to win. Supreme Court in winner’s enclosure, the jockey is Charlie Elliot. Held by Mrs Lilley.
