- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Baudouin Ascends the Throne. DESCRIPTION: Before a joint assembly in the Chamber of Representatives, 20-year-old Prince Royal took the Oath and ascended the throne. After visiting the Unknown Soldier’s Tomb, King Baudouin drove in state through the capital. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Drive through street in open car. Shots of Baudouin driving through crowded streets to Parliament. MS Parliament building, decorated with crown. Baudouin enters parliament building. Applause from MP’s on entering (Chamber of Representatives). Baudouin standing in front of throne, takes oath speaking in Flemish & French. House applaud, he bows to them. Drives through streets, various shots, approach Palace, entering palace grounds, gates closed behind, crowds rush to railings of palace. Baudouin out on balcony.
