Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Attlee in America. DESCRIPTION: Mr Attlee arrived at the White House to be greeted by President Truman. On Armistice Day he, the President and Mackenzie King of Canada paid tribute to the fallen. During his visit the Premier addressed Congress. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS White House. Attlee out of car, jumps up steps and gives Truman hearty handshake. CU both. Truman, Mackenzie King, Attlee at Arlington War Memorial, Attlee, with hat on, lays wreath on tomb. Cut-in of Truman, King and Byrnes, standing behind him with their hats off. The Trio board yacht "Sequoria", casts off, out of camera. Elevated shot of Attlee entering Congress, taking his seat amid applause. CU addressing Congress, "We must keep bonds of peace". "England like a man who has been bombed out and his business ruined and has to start afresh". Cut-ins audience applauding.
