- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Simla Offers New Hope to India. DESCRIPTION: Indian leaders gather at the Viceregal Lodge in Simla for a conference with Lord Wavell. Mahatma Gandhi did not attend the meeting preferring to stay nearby. SHOTLIST: Cut story - Elevated shot of Simla clouds forming over same. Crowds of Indians waiting in pouring rain leaders to arrive. GV Viceregal Lodge, also CU plate reading same. Lord & Lady Wavell in garden talk with some of the leaders. Crowds wait for Gandhi. Gandhi arrives in rickshaw, gets out and walk through crowds, motioning them to sit on ground. Nehru, out on balcony, addresses large crowd (silent), shot of large crowd. Grounds of Viceregal Lodge, Wavell speaks with leaders. CU Dr Azhad, Wavell speaking to Mr Jinnah. Various shots of people present in grounds. Few of whom are named on Index side. Crowds. Mrs Jinnah arrives in Rickshaw to finish.
