NoS synopsis: Granpa Clarke and his family go shopping in Ebbw Vale. The young girl buys a new dress for the Ebbw Vale Chapels’ Whit Walks, but Granpa is not going this year. He goes to watch the chapel choir are practising. The film follows the family as they set off from terraced houses to join their chapel’s procession. Suddenly, Granpa changes his mind, and the family have to wait for him outside the house, while he rushes in for his hat and coat. They leave with Granpa to see the parade which goes through the streets. Groups of people sing and carry banners proclaiming the names of their different chapel communities. The choir makes a detour to perform for hospital patients outside the building. We then see children playing at the end of the day, before Granpa turns back for home, promising that he will not go next year. - Researcher Comments
