Summary
NoS synopsis: An item showing the sports ground at Cookley, Staffordshire being dug up for an extension of the Cookley works to enable manufacture of grain-oriented steel for use in electrical transformers. A graphics-illustrated explanation is given of why such steel is needed in transformers. Illustrations of the use of steel in electrical appliances include the lights at Piccadilly Circus, London trams, a radio, a funfair, a phone and a substation.
