Summary
COI synopsis: In the past, towns tended to grow gradually, over long periods of time. In the modern world, as industry develops and people’s needs become pressing, towns have to be planned and the needs foreseen. This is true in all continents, but becomes particularly relevant in Africa, with the growth of mining and extractive industry, and in Britain where population growth and movements must be foreseen. London Line shows a successful town in Britain in process of planning and an African expert helping to plan it.
Researcher Comments
The featured British town is Milton Keynes; the featured planner, James Buxton from Ghana. NB: Information gathered from the Ghanaian version
