Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Shrovetide Football. DESCRIPTION: Atherstone is the setting for a boisterous game of Shrovetide Football, an event which has taken place since the Middle Ages. SHOTLIST: GV Atherstone Main Street. MS man boarding up shop. MCU ditto. MS shop boarded up. MS another shop boarded up. MCU the ball with which game is played. MS crowd waiting outside for ball to be thrown out. MS Mr Stanley Everett with the ball. Pan to see crowd. MS Mr Everett throws out the ball and the crowd grabs for it. MS crowd round the ball. MS people running for the ball. MLS people chasing the ball. MCU among the crowd with people all round. MS ball being thrown through the air and is caught by a man and man kicks it. MS ball in the air and caught and they run with it. MS Mayor watching. CU Mayor. MLS crowd in the street, ball comes towards camera and is caught and people clamour round it. MS group of people round the ball. MLS people in the Main Street round the ball. MS people chasing the ball. MS people milling round. MS ball is thrown and caught. MS three people watching from window. MS man with ball with a few people round him. MLS crowd in Main Street. MS man holding the ball with winning team round him. MCU man with the ball and all the winning team round him, tilt up to see deflated ball. Story ends.
