MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Olympic Hopes AAA. DESCRIPTION: At London’s Crystal Palace, field and track events took place in conditions which were described as absolutely perfect. The two main attractions of the day, the two Davids - Bedford and Hemery. Hemery won with Ugandan Johnny Akii-Bua, the 400 metres. David Bedford - (only 24 hours previously had won the 5,000 metres) but went on to carve up the opposition in the 10,000 metres for a new World Record, finishing three quarters of a lap ahead of the next man ... SHOTLIST: LV pan competitor making good pole vault. Lynn Davies. LV pan 800 metres final with No 9 Andrew Carter followed closely by No 13 John Davies, 3rd No 11 pan with No 9 as he breaks tape at 35’ to win. CU Andrew Carter. GV line up for 100m final, they start, pan with runners and No 27 Papageorgepoulos (Greek) takes the lead and brakes tape to win with Brian Green 2nd, Leslie Piggott 3rd. SV starter fires gun. GV start of 110 hurdles final, pan with hurdlers, No 1 Alan Pascoe takes lead, breaks tape to win with Price 2nd and Gower 3rd. CU pan Pascoe winner. GV mass crowds watching. GV 400m in progress with David Hemery in lead closely followed by John Akii-Bua (Uganda), Hemery breaks tape with Akii-Bua a very close second. CU pan Hemery after race. SV pan David Bedford taking off track suit and walks to starting line. LV pan start of 10,000m. CU legs and feet running past camera. SV pan Bedford running round track alone well ahead of others. SV other runners past camera. CU pan Bedford running past bell, one lap to go. GV crowds applauding. SV pan as Bedford laps runner. CU pan as Bedford wins race. SV pan Bedford continues to run, he stops and salutes crowd. SV Bedford walks past crowds.
