Career
John Braban was an actor from London, who had his first film and television work in 1954. Braban had a minor role in the film ‘Private’s Progress’ (1956), after which he spent some months ‘as staff announcer and disc jockey at Radio Luxembourg.' On his return to London he began recording film commentaries, and then joined Movietone. Braban’s first credit is for British Movietone News No.2053 of October 1968, and he worked intermittently until No.2125 of February 1970, helping Jeffrey Shearley [qv] to provide relief for Movietone’s regular commentator, Leslie Mitchell [qv]. According to Peter Hampton [qv] Braban also worked for BBC Television.
