DESCRIPTION: The Ruler, Tuanku Syed Putra, formerly the Raja of Perlis, received a royal salute from the Police Guard of Honour when he arrived for his installation. Already in the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Hall, important people from all parts of the Federation of Malaya had assembled, when Their Majesties entered in stately procession. The proclamation was read by the Prime Minister, Tuanku Abdul Rahman. Then, the Grand Chamberlain presented the golden Kris of State, symbol of power and authority, to the new ruler, the third Sovereign of the Federation, since it became independent.
