Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Motor Museum Opened. DESCRIPTION: The Montagu Motor Museum was formed at Beaulieu, in Hampshire, seven years ago. A new extension has just been built by the founder, Lord Montagu, seen with his fiancée, Belinda Crossley. The late Mike Hawthorn’s mother was among the guests, so were Katie Moss and Stirling, Raymond Mays and Tony Brooks. Motor pioneer, Lord Brabazon, unveiled a tablet recording the opening of the new wing. With nearly 500 exhibits, the museum’s one of the largest of its type in the world. Here is veteran mechanic Leo Villa, looking at Sir Malcolm Campbell’s 1921 Racing Sunbeam. Stirling Moss shows interest in Sir Henry Segrave’s 1929 Golden Arrow. Peter Collins and Mike Hawthorn are remembered. There is Mike’s Riley in which he learnt racing, and his father’s Alfa Romeo alongside Mike’s Le Mans winning Jaguar. SHOTLIST: Veteran cars (key).
