- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Crisis in Iraq. DESCRIPTION: The latest Middle East crisis has flared up in Iraq, a country that produces over thirty million tons of oil a year. In this picture, King Feisal is at Kirkuk, with his uncle, Crown Prince Abdul Illah. Early reports of their fate, given out over Baghdad radio, in rebels hands, were contradictory. In 1956, the young King was welcomed to London by Her Majesty the Queen. He was visiting a country he knew well: for he was educated in Britain. And he confirmed the friendship existing between Iraq and Great Britain. Nuri Es Said, Iraq’s political leader for many years, was first reported to have been killed: then to have escaped. It was only recently, that King Feisal and his cousin King Hussein of Jordan, formed a Federation. When the crisis came, King Hussein took over. Meanwhile, the security council has met. American Marines have landed in Lebanon. SHOTLIST: GV Iraq from air. GV building from air in desert. GV building - oil pipes in foreground. CU oil pipe join being made. CU same. MS deputation arrive.
