- Summary
- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Polaris Pop Up. DESCRIPTION: The American Navy calls it a pop-up. It is a firing test for Polaris missiles and the sea range is off the West Coast. They call it a pop-up, because only the underwater launching tube is being tested. The Polaris could be fitted with an H-Bomb warhead, and it is reported that one Submarine’s batteries could fire the equivalent of all the high explosive detonated in World War Two. In this test, the missiles are not intended to do more than clear the surface. SHOTLIST: GV underwater launching site Polaris missile. Shots popping up and re-entering water. Same underwater frogmen. CU frogman passes camera. Man with ball. Polaris pops up.
