Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Formosa Riots. DESCRIPTION: Nationalists troops were called out in Taipeh, Formosa to deal with serious rioting by Chinese. They overturned dozens of American cars and then proceeded to storm the US Embassy. It all began as a protest against the acquittal of an American soldier who’d shot dead a Chinese Peeping Tom. The final outrage was the hauling down and destruction of the Embassy’s Stars and Stripes flag. SHOTLIST: Shots of the Nationalist troops standing on guard etc. Tanks through the streets. Troops. Various shots of upturned American cars. Rioters storming the US Embassy. Rioters enter the Embassy. Table being thrown from a balcony. Windows being smashed. American ‘Stars and Stripes’ flag being taken down and waved about. Disturbances.
