Career

Terry Gallacher [qv] recalled David Lowe as ‘a member of the Templar Films team of Glasgow working with Robert Riddell-Black [qv].' They acted as Movietone’s Scottish representatives, and Lowe’s first credit was for ‘BRAEMAR GATHERING’ in British Movietone News No.1684 of September 1961, followed by ‘THE CHOICE OF BRITAIN’ in No.1719 of May 1962, and ‘ALL AT SEA - AT SCHOOL’ in No.1965 of January 1967. In March 1967 ‘D. Low’ was also listed as the commentator for ‘GRAND PRIX’ in No.1970, and this was possibly the same man. Lowe provided a regular supply of Scottish material until his last credit for ‘PRINCE CHARLES TAKES COMMAND’ in No.2438 of February 1976.

He also worked as a cameraman for Roundabout, a technicolor cinemagazine made by Associated British Pathe and later British Movietonews for the Central Office of Information. His only known credit for this series is ‘ALLOA POLICE COLLEGE’, Roundabout No.88, of September 1969.
