MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Boxing - Montane Wins European Title. DESCRIPTION: At Belle Vue, Manchester, Billy Thompson of Hickleton Main, the British Lightweight champion, was knocked out by Pierre Montane (the French title holder) in the 12th round of their European title fight. BOXING - CLAYTON RETAINS TITLE - Al Phillips of Aldgate was defeated, on points, by Ronnie Clayton of Blackpool when he attempted to take Clayton’s featherweight titles of Great Britain and the Empire at the Nottingham Ice Stadium. SHOTLIST: Cut story - MS boxing ring. Various shots of above couple boxing. Montane punishing Thompson. Thompson sparring up. Montane knocks Thompson down for the count in the 12th round. Thompson carried to his corner after being counted out. (39 secs). BOXING - CLAYTON v. PHILLIPS - Nottingham Ice Rink - Al Phillips comes out to meet Clayton, misses with a right swing. Clayton & Phillips exchange punches. Clayton takes advantage & severely punishes Phillips. Phillips down in 11th round. Clayton knocking Phillips all round the ring. Clayton wins on points. MS & SCU Clayton being presented with Lonsdale Belt, cut-ins crowds cheering, in sound. (91 secs).
