Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: What Next for Korea?. DESCRIPTION: First pictures of the re-occupation of Seoul by South Koreans show Marines of the Republic engaged in street actions following the brilliant work of the American advance guards. Resistance had been strong and every street has been defended by the enemy. At Liverpool, the Royal Ulster Rifles have embarked for Korea and in spite of the swift victory there would surely be work for the famous regiment, as Mr Strachey pointed out. The Gloucesters, too, have left for Korea from Southampton aboard the Empire Windrush. There was a lucky break for one of them, reservist Bandsman Wagstaff, who was released from the draft, just before the ship sailed. SHOTLIST: KS Marines move up, river (Seoul) in background. Various street actions, troops searching, interrogating North Koreans. First Aid post tends to civilian casualties. Streets barricaded, street actions. At Liverpool - Royal Ulster Rifles embark, various shots boarding & onto deck. CU types. Shots of troops on deck. Troops singing "Mountains of Mounre", lining the deck. At Southampton - Gloucesters & other regiments embark aboard "Empire Windrush" - several shots. Bandsman Wagstaff disembarks, walks along quay & past camera. Ship’s ropes taken from bollard. Ship pulls away. Ship sailing out of camera to finish.
