Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Farewell, Old Tram. DESCRIPTION: London trams are doomed and already several routes have been abolished - the first of the nine stages in a change-over, which will take two year to complete. There is a graveyard at Charlton for old vehicles, and many a fond farewell is taken as they come in to be broken up for scrap. SHOTLIST: KS. MS trams in "graveyard". Library - Old time trams, several shots, some horse-drawn other driven by steam tram. Various shots of London trams, on various routes. Trams along Embankment. Trams at New Cross Gate, etc. GV tram graveyard at Charlton. Trams for scrapping, driver puts small flowers, bunch of, on same. Tram pulled over off bogey. Catching fire to same, several shots of body burning. Night shots last Wandsworth tram, small crowd around same. Night shot - first bus leaving garage to replace trams - night time. Several shots of new tram track being laid near Festival of Britain site.
