MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Princess Elizabeth Launches Caronia. DESCRIPTION: The Princess was accompanied to Clydeside by her fiancee when she launched the new Cunard liner ‘Caronia’. SHOTLIST: CUT STORY: KS Aerial (from helicopter) of SS Caronia in the stocks. Princess Elizabeth and Lt Philip Mountbatten inspect Guard of Honour of Sea Rangers. Lt Mountbatten looks at one of the Rangers lanyards. GV crowds in shipyard. Princess Elizabeth walks through dockyard along side of ship on stocks. Crowds with umbrellas up owing to rain. On launching platform Princess names ship Caronia etc. MS bottle breaking on bows of ship. SCU bows of ship beginning to move. MS ship sliding to slipway. Ship entering water, chains being dragged along ground. MS from launching platform as ship settles in water. Cut-ins of crowds. MS ship in water with helicopter seen hovering in background. Aerial of ship being launched as seen from helicopter. Bouquet presented to Princess.
