Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Royal Visit to Plymouth and Dartmouth. DESCRIPTION: The King and Queen visited a China Clay pit at St Austell during their West Country visit. They also visited Plymouth and the Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. SHOTLIST: KS Sign reading St Austell. King and Queen arrive at the above. Royal party inspect Lower Ninestone’s Clay Pit. Various shots of china clay pit. One employee walks through liquid clay to King who shakes hands with him, Queen chats with him (silent). At Stoke Climsland King and Queen inspect cattle, prize bulls etc. Arrival at Plymouth. GV of platform shows Lord Mayor addressing crowd. King walks towards foundation stone and unveils same. CU stone. Cut-ins of ruined Plymouth buildings, streets etc. (x3). King addresses crowd, speaks of how Plymouth had suffered etc. At Dartmouth, following day. Arrival at Royal Naval College. King inspects cadets. GV marchpast, cadets up incline and then into camera past the King, various shots of them into camera following up in the rear is the Marine Band. Cut-ins of King taking salute.
