Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Charlton’s Cup. DESCRIPTION: Charlton and Burnley meet at Wembley to contest the FA Cup Final. Chris Duffy was the match winning hero with a goal for Charlton five minutes before the end. SHOTLIST: KS CU FA Cup. Elevated shot crowds into camera approaching stadium, very good. Crowds out of camera - ground shot. Several shots of crowds arriving, some dressed in colours supporting the teams. Crowd shot inside stadium, teams come out and line up on field. Duke of Gloucester with Earl of Athlone walk onto field, National Anthem strikes up, Duke of Gloucester stands bare headed. Alan Brown presented to Duke he then introduces some of the team, back of players showing their numbers and front view of the Duke. SV CU Duke shaking hands with Don Welsh, then introduced to some of Charlton team, same position as Burnley team. MS Two captains and referee (Mr Wiltshire) in centre of pitch, toss up. Charlton win toss. Elevated shot of teams lined up and kick off. Elevated shot of play. GV Burnley - Peter Kippax No 11, dribbling ball from their end into Charlton area, jumping over one of the opponents, and passing ball onto Billy Morris. Charlton’s No 7 centres ball from wing, Burnley’s Alan Brown No 5, gets ball first and clears. Burnley attacks, Morris shoots over bar and into camera. From behind goal, Mather stops Charlton from scoring by kicking ball clear right on goal line. Various shots of play and counter play by both teams. Elevated shot of Chris Duffy dancing around the ball and eventually dashing down wing. MS Mr Attlee seated in Royal Box. CU Mr Morrison smiling. Cut-ins of various types at match - SCU. Elevated shot of kick off second half and GV of crowded stadium, very good. Various shots of play, Phipps No 5 of Charlton in action. Harrison for Burnley shoots ball straight at Sam Bartram ball hits bar and rebounds. Slow motion from behind Charlton goal of Bartram in action, several good saves. Several shots of Duffy working hard on the wing, racing down same. Play around Burnley goal, Elevated shot ball comes across Burnley goal and Duffy kicks same into net, he stands there with his hands up in the air, then runs down pitch to Shreeve, who he embraces. Slow motion - shot from behind Burnley goal, of Duffy goal also the running to Shreeve. Cut-ins of Burnley’s supporters not looking very pleased or amused. Don Welsh followed by Charlton team climb steps to front of Royal Box shake hands with Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, who presents Cup and the latter the medals. Walking down steps to ground, crowds all touching the cup. Welsh with team around him pose for camera and says a few words how pleased they are but very tired.
