Career

Cyril Bliss was a newsreel cameraman first credited for ‘PAULETTE SEES CAMBRIDGE WIN’ in British Paramount News No.1679 of April 1947. He is then credited in the Movietone camera team that filmed ‘LIGHT BLUES’ EASY BOAT RACE WIN’ for British Movietone News No.930A of April 1947. Bliss was also credited on the camera teams for ‘CHARLTON’S CUP’ in British Movietone News No.934 in April 1947, ‘WELCOME HOME’ in No.936A of May 1947, and ‘THE DERBY’ in No.940 of June 1947. In January 1953 he helped to film ‘FA CUP THIRD ROUND’ for Pathe News No.53/5, and in March 1953 he was in the camera team for ‘THE NATION’S HOMAGE: QUEEN MARY’S FUNERAL PROCESSION,' in Pathe News No.53/23 of April 1953. In February 1955 Len Dudley [qv] covered a story for Paramount, and noted that Cyril Bliss was also there, filming for either CBS or NBC.
