Summary
MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Liberation of Marseille. DESCRIPTION: The combined air, sea and land operation of the Seventh Army was swift and highly successful. They quickly advanced north to meet up with their colleagues near Dijon. The scenes in Marseille were reminiscence of other liberated towns. SHOTLIST: Cut story - KS. Aerial shots of Naples crammed with equipment for invasion of South of France. GV of same. Elevated shot of troops march across beaches. Aerial shots of masses (best yet) of paratroops dropping, also shots of parachutes on ground. Sea-landed troops rush up roads, firing guns, occasional explosions amid obstacles. American fire grenade from rifle. GS of troops firing, background barbed wire & sea. GV of German POWs march along road escorted by Yanks, also out of camera. Streets of Marseille, crowds cheer, various shots of British troops, in town surrounded by girls. CU of same, kissing etc. Some of the troops can be recognised as those of London Irish Regiment. Various crowds. FFI march through streets, also French troops & British, followed by transport. Priest guns & tanks pass through city. More crowds cheering, British troops, finish on tanks through streets.
