Summary
Off Leyte, and an American warship is attacked by an enemy bomber. The plane, hit by flak, starts a death dive and plunges in flames right into a troop filled landing craft. Casualties of the collision are brought back to a transport. (Official US Navy pictures). A smoke-screen is laid down to curtain the landing of reinforcements for the Philippines. At Tacloban, Filipinos help US engineers prepare an air-strip. General MacArthur with his Air Chief, General Kenney, sees the first American land-planes take off.
