Isolated Everted Intestinal Sac of the Rat

Synopsis

Demonstrates the method of dissection of the rat gut and the preparation of isolated sacs from segments of the intestine. The technique suggested is that of segmentation of the jejunum and ileum into five equal parts and incubating for 30 minutes in Krebs bicarbonate buffer at 37 degrees centigrade in a shaking incubator with an oscillation time of 80 per minute. The method of draining and weighing the sacs is shown.
