Explores some of the ways in which disease in a patient’s gut and joints may be associated for various reasons: 1) disease traditionally thought of as being gastro-intestinal may have a rheumatic component; 2) many rheumatic diseases affect the gastro-intestinal tract; 3) the treatment of rheumatic diseases may affect the patient’s gut.
