- Director of Research at the Royal College of Psychiatrists, Dr Paul Elliott on his survey into twelve mental health services in London, which found high occupancy levels and a high number of violent incidents between patients and towards nurses in acute pyschiatric units. He is calling for intitiatives such as improved community services to relieve the pressure. Also expressing concern people are being discharged when they are still recovering and then being readmitted, and arguing effective pyschiatric treatments are now available but there are insufficient staff and beds to deliver them properly.
