Hard to Believe: A Film About Mental Health and Spirituality

Synopsis
An insight into the influence a person’s spirituality has on their role within society and the significance of this when treating someone with mental health issues. Many health professionals at best ignore the religious beliefs of their patients and at worst regard their beliefs as the cause of their mental illness. This programme examines the common mismatch between the belief system of those seeking help and those offering help and attempts to create dialogue between the psychiatric professionals and the faith communities involved.

Includes excellent supplementary notes and 31 minutes of additional interviews with people from a range of faith communities.
