Summary
The Second Front opens at last. First rush pictures of greatest event in military history include actual bombing of German defence targets, embarkation of Airborne Arm on troop carriers and subsequent flight over the Channel. Prime Minister, Field Marshal Smuts and Ernest Bevin go aboard invasion craft to bid God Speed to English troops. Allied navies bear main responsibility of putting armies safely on French soil. Tremendous naval bombardment shatters German coast defences. Graphic representation of beachhead fighting shows how airborne troops effectively harassed the enemy.
