Summary
Rhodesian Spotlight synopsis: Sir Ernest Oppenheimer opens the Bancroft Copper Mine.
Rhodesian Spotlight Commentary - Where only 4 years ago there was nothing but African Bush, the Bancroft Copper Mine today comes into operation. It has, so far, called for an 18 million pound investment, and Sir Ernest Oppenheimer journeyed with to perform the official opening.
The Mine Manager, Mr McKay, and his staff have overcome innumberable difficulties, and to all those who did the pioneering work under most trying conditions, Sir Ernest Oppenheimer paid unstinted praise. Starting with the prospecting work of Dr. Bancroft, after whom the mine is named, a noteworthy climax is reached in the story of the newest great Northern Copper producer.
