- NCB Summary - The Artist in Industry Fellowship Scheme gives a painter the opportunity of working for two months at a Yorkshire Colliery.
NCB synopsis: LS man (artist Paul Butler) walking L-R past hedge in suburban area. LS Butler walking away from camera down path beside chain link fence, running down steep path; CS Butler in woods and stops and looks at view (1.02). LS Maltby Colliery (Yorkshire) showing old-style head stacks (pit head) 1.07). . LS colliery notice board reading "Maltby Colliery South Yorkshire Area". Butler walks towards it. Miners and Butler being checked before entering cage. Caged descends. All with voice-over (vo) of Butler talking about his experiences and his relationship with miners. Butler with his sketchbook gets out of cage and walks away along pit bottom (2.01).
