Career

Formerly of the Paul Rotha Company, Francis Gysin joined Data Films [qv] (and therefore, the Mining Review team) in 1949. He was producer of the series from 1952-1958.

Gysin left Data in 1958 to take over a film-making unit for Shell in Venezuela. He returned to England and became NCB Films Officer and chief producer of Mining Review in 1963.

Gysin’s credits for Mining Review range from script writing and research, to producing and directing. They include, ‘LIVING IN’ (Director) in Mining Review 1st Year No.7 of March 1948, ‘LEDSTONE LUCK’ in 7th Year No.10 of June 1954, and ‘DIGGING UP THE PAST’ (research) in 4th Year No.5 of January 1951.
