Career

Fred Gamage was a cameraman for Mining Review in its first year. His credits then include ‘CUTTER LOADER’ and ‘THE MINERS SONG’ in 1st Year No.1 of September 1947. During this period he also worked on the cinemagazine This Is Britain, his only surviving credit being ‘NEW STEEL PLANT’, This Is Britain No.38, issued in 1949. This series was produced by the Central Office of Information [qv] for the Board of Trade [qv] and made by the Crown Film Unit [qv].

He returned to the NCB Film Unit in 1974 remaining until 1981. His credits for this period include ‘BEHIND THE BREW’ in Review 28th Year No.3 of November 1974 and ‘ART IN INDUSTRY’ in Review 34th Year No.11 of July 1981.
