Summary
NoS Summary - A Charleston lesson for the cinema audience demonstrated by Santos Casani & Jose Lennard.
British Pathe synopsis: Santos Casani and Jose Lennard the famous teachers demonstrate 3 Charleston exercises C/U. These exercises will help dancers with their balance and rhythm. The side promenade is then demonstrated. We see Casani’s feet from a high angle, the camera then pans up his body to show that he is smiling as he dances. The cinema patrons have been encouraged to practice the exercises whilst they are sitting in the cinema- "(try all these steps whilst you sit!)" and an intertitle reads: "Now have a shot at this variation - under the seat - !" This is followed by some complicated criss crossing of the feet. "Some people think the Charleston needs a lot of space - It doesn’t - look at this - " Santos and Jose dance on the roof of a taxi as it drives through a London street - there is also a gramophone on top of the taxi.
