- Summary
- COI synopsis: ‘Carrousel Britanico’ visits an English factory where raw sisal has been converted into rope for more than sixty years. Today machines are speeding up the traditional skills, but some customs of the past are still retained, such as the ringing of a bell twice when a complete drum of fibre - three hundred and fifty yards - is ready to be spun. In less than a day, the factory can convert raw sisal into rope capable of lifting a load of over twelve tons.
