Summary
COI synopsis: The giant radio telescopes at Jodrell Bank in north west England have contributed to both American and Russian space projects by helping to track the course of rockets and satellites. A new radio telescope receives waves from space and these are interpreted by complex computers, which actually steer the telescope. Punch-tape machines record its exact position and the calculations received on automatic typewriters are used for measuring the distance between planets and the earth.
