Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: French State Visit. DESCRIPTION: President Giscard D’Estaing of France arrives in London for a four day State Visit and is met at Victoria Station by Her Majesty the Queen. Later in the day, in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, Her Majesty presents the President with a gundog. SHOTLIST: GV sign on station "Victoria". MS train arriving. Zoom in. MS Queen walking forward with Prince Philip towards train. MS French President Giscard D’Estaing alighting from train. Pan as he walks towards the Queen. They shake hands at 57’ and with Prince Philip at 60’ Queen. Madame Giscard D’Estaing shakes hands with Queen at 63’ and with Prince Philip at 64’. CU French emblem. MS Queen with President walking over to meet Lord Lieutenant at 78’, the PM Mr Callaghan at 81’ the Home Secretary, Roy Jenkins at 86’. Zoom in the Foreign Secretary Anthony Crosland at 90’ and the Lord Mayor at 94’. MLS cavalry outside. MLS Queen and President outside as National Anthems are played. At 109’ the flag is lowered in salute. MCU flag dipped in salute. MCU President walking forward to inspect guards. MCU President inspecting guards, pan with him. MS Queen with Madame Giscard D’Estaing. MS President inspecting guards. MS people watching. MS Queen and President getting into coach. MCU mounted soldier. MCU Queen and President in coach as it pulls away. Pull back and pan. MCU man with knotted handkerchief on his head watching. MS coach coming round corner into the Mall. MS people at Buckingham Palace waiting for Queen and President to arrive. MS pan as coach goes round towards Buckingham Palace. CU Royal Standard flying. MLS coaches going into Buckingham Palace. MS President getting out of coach followed by Queen. CU one of the guards. MS Queen, President, Madame Giscard D’Estaing and Prince Philip on Palace steps. They go inside with them ending on guard. MS Queen and President with other VIPs looking at dog which has been presented to President. At 283’ President strokes the dog. CU Beefeater. SV pan Queen holding arm of President walking into Banqueting Room.
