Summary

MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: English Cup Final - in Colour. DESCRIPTION: Leeds United versus Sunderland in the Football Association Challenge Cup Final at Wembley. Sunderland the giant killers from the second division win, one - nil. SHOTLIST: MS follow shot as teams walk onto field out of tunnel and onto pitch. Zoom out from Wembley crowd to GV of stadium as teams come out onto pitch. MS teams walk past camera. LS Leeds supporters cheering with banner. LS Sunderland ditto. MS Bob Kerr (Captain of Sunderland) shakes hands with linesman, Billy Bremner (Leeds Captain), referee E Burns tosses coin. CU supporter with sign Super Leeds. LS Leeds kick off (in white) playing left to right, ball goes out of shot towards Leeds goal. CU Sunderland player rushing up field. LS Leeds player chases after ball but collides with Sunderland player, Leeds No 7 Lorimer takes control. CU Sunderland player pointing. LS Leeds player passes to No 7 Lorimer who shoots goal, but shot just misses post. MLS cheering crowd. LS Lorimer centres ball. CU Leeds No 4 Bremner & Sunderland No 4 Michael Horswill jump for ball Sunderland No 8 Hughes tripped and referee awards free kick to Sunderland. CU Bremner runs back down field. LS Kerr takes kick. CU Sunderland player No 9 Halom runs for ball but is checked by Leeds player, he gets up and runs off up field with crowds in back ground. GV play Leeds centre and attack. CU Sunderland goalie clears and watches ball. GV Leeds attack again but Sunderland clear up field. CU Sunderland player runs up field. LS Leeds No 8 Clarke and Sunderland No 8 Hughes run for ball, Clarke falls and trips Hughes. CU Sunderland No 10 Ian Porterfield. LS ditto takes free kick, ball goes to centre field & Leeds attack up field. CU Sunderland No 10 on attack but is barged by Leeds’ Bremner & slides along ground. CU Leeds goalie Harvey. LS Sunderland attack, ball shoots towards goal but Harvey saves, tips it over bar for a corner. CU Leeds players get into position for corner. LS Sunderland No 8 Hughes curls in corner kick No 9 Halom flicks ball on No 10 Porterfield brings the ball down and smashes it into goal, zoom in to jubilant Sunderland players and pan to crowd. CU No 10 Porterfield congratulated by other players. GV ditto with crowd in fore ground. LS cheering Sunderland crowd. LS Sunderland attack again, Leeds goalie stops but then loses ball and regains possession & clears up field. CU Sunderland goalie waiting. LS Leeds attack but goalie stops ball, Sunderland clear. LS scoreboard Leeds 0, Sunderland 1. CU Sunderland crowd with poster Stokoe for God. MLS cheering crowd. END OF FIRST HALF [335 FEET = 223 SECONDS]. SECOND HALF - LV Sunderland kick off. CU Leeds player No 8 (Clarke) jumps for ball with Sunderland players. GV Leeds kick across to goalie Montgomery who dives to save at same time Leeds player pushes him down and Leeds No 3 Cherry taps ball in net (goal disallowed). SV Leeds supporters. GTV Leeds attacking with passing movement, Giles loses ball to Sunderland player who starts movement up field. SV pan Sunderland player No 8 dribbling up field with ball towards Leeds goalmouth. Shot behind net, as Leeds player shoots ball, goes just wide of post. CU Leeds player. LV Leeds defence loses ball to Sunderland player who shoots but ball goes wide of post. SCU Bremner. LV mass of Sunderland supporters. SV Sunderland attacking No 9 Halom passes to team mate who returns pass to Halom, he shoots and goalie Harvey saves, clears up field. 2 CUs pan linesman running, Leeds player No 6 running up field, marked by No 4, Sunderland’s Horswill. LV Leeds No 3 Cherry dives and heads ball to Montgomery, ball goes onto Lorimer who shoots again, Montgomery tips ball up to cross bar to make remarkable save, ball is then cleared from goalmouth by Malone No 2. CU Bremner running toward camera looking cross. SCU Allan Clarke. LV Leeds attacking Sunderland kick towards goal, ball is deflected from Leeds player & Sunderland shoot again, goalie Harvey dives to save. SV Sunderland supporter with banner. LV Sunderland attacking, Kerr shoots, goalie Harvey dives to save, at same time is pushed into net, foul is given. SV referee blowing whistle, end of game as a Sunderland player collapses on ground. GV teams - crowds cheering in fore ground. 2 SVs Ritchie Pitt running to congratulate Porterfield. SV Duchess of Kent with others applauding. STV Sunderland T Manager Bob Stokoe lifting up captain Kerr. SV Leeds players congratulating Porterfield. SV D Revie Leeds manager shakes him by hand. CU Stokoe with arm around 2 players. LV mass of Sunderland supporters. SV Duchess of Kent presenting FA Cup to Kerr, he kisses cup, turns and holds it aloft. GV massed crowds cheering.
