- MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Lynmouth Disaster, Devon. DESCRIPTION: It was 20 years ago that the world was told - ‘Lynmouth, on the North Devon coast, was no more’. The usually quiet and peaceful fishing village had been ripped apart, with the loss of 34 people, when, after heavy rain, the East and West Lyn Rivers overnight changed course and carried all before it out to sea.
