Career

The first credit available for Ray Gallard is as a cameraman for the colour cinemagazine Look At Life. He filmed eleven issues including ‘THE SINKING CITY’, No.489, released in 1968. Peter Hampton [qv] remembered Ray Gallard as a film editor at Movietone, but he was also a Movietone cameraman, his first credit being for ‘TOY TIME’ in British Movietone News No.2122A of February 1970. Gallard was also in the camera teams that filmed ‘THE 126th RUNNING OF THE GRAND NATIONAL’ for No.2131A and ‘THE CUP FINALS’ for No.2132, both in April 1970, and he afterwards covered a large number of domestic stories until ‘NEW BEECH TREES’ in No.2256 of August 1972. There was then a long gap until his credit for ‘CLIFF RAILWAY’ in No.2302 of July 1973. Gallard’s last credits are for six stories beginning with ‘POWERBOAT RACE’ in No.2403 of June 1975, and ending with ‘MINEHEAD RAILWAY’ in No.2448 of May 1976.
