MOVIETONE CARD TITLE: Athletics at Crystal Palace. DESCRIPTION: The highlight of this International event was when David Bedford won the 3,000 metres steeplechase. SHOTLIST: GV Crystal Palace athletics arena. LS towards and pan finish of 1,000 metres mens (event 6) with No 7 Tom Saisi of Kenya in lead - he breaks tapes to win at 28’. GV floodlights over crowd. SV pan start of 5,000 metre mens (event 16). CU pan as runners pass camera. SV towards and pan No 10 in lead Alvarez Saigado (Spain) followed by Kip Keino and others. SV crowds watching. SV pan Keino No 7 racing down straight to win, he breaks tape at 74’. SV Keino waving to crowd. SV towards and pan 800 metre Lillian Board Memorial - in progress with No 10 Vera Nikolic (Yugoslavia) in lead followed by No 4 Collette Besson followed by No 1 Jean Allison followed by Sheila Carey. GV pan girls racing down straight in same order at 100’, No 5 Carey starts to overtake the leaders at 115’, she just wins race. CU Carey smiling. SV Mrs Board presents prize to Carey. CU Mrs Board kisses Sheila at 145’, Mr Board kisses Sheila. SV pan 3000 metre steeplechase in progress (event 21) No 8 Andy Holden in lead followed closely by David Bedford No 1. GV as the two men jump last hurdle with Holden in lead, Bedford puts on spurt. Overtakes Holden at 70’, Bedford breaks tapes to win at 78’. SBV Bedford throws arms in the air. GV crowds watching. SV pan Bedford after race.
